Cables Aren't Complicated! Knit the Habitat Hat by Jared Flood

Cables look complicated, but are actually very easy to do. In this class, you will learn how to create cables and read charts. After mastering these skills, we will make the Habitat Hat by Jared Flood. This class requires the purchase of the Habitat pattern (available at Tolt Yarn and Wool or on Ravelry) and homework completed prior to the start of each class.

Skill Level:
Intermediate: proficient with knit and purl stitch, increases and decreases and working in the round.

Supplies Needed:
please purchase prior to class:
Needles: 16" circular needles in size 7 and 8 (or size to obtain gauge of 4.5 stitches per inch on the larger needles) and a set of double pointed needles in the size of your larger needles.
Yarn: 120 to 135 yards of a worsted weight yarn. We suggest Elsawool Worsted, Shibui Merino Alpaca, Soft Donegal, Rowan Tweed Aran, or any worsted weight multi-ply yarn. Please have yarn purchased and wound prior to class.
Notions: 6 stitch markers, 1 cable needle (medium or small)

Homework:
Prior to the FIRST class: using size 7 (or smaller size you choseto obtain gauge) circular needles, cast on 90 stitches and work 1 inch of 2x1 ribbing (K2, P1). Leave this on the needles and bring to the first class.Prior to the SECOND class: work through row 20 of Chart C.
