Lopi is made from Icelandic sheep wool, which has two components to the wool, the long outercoat, tog, and the shorter, soft undercoat, thel. This creates an excellent yarn with loft and warmth, luster and incredible durability.
Istex sources its wool directly from the farmers in Iceland and then process it into yarn. The wool scouring is located in the town Blönduós in north of the country and the spinning mill in the town Mosfellsbaer nearby Reykjavik.
This loosely twisted aran weight yarn is traditionally used for Lopapeysa, Icelandic color work sweaters. Léttlopi produces garments that are comfortable to wear indoors or outdoors and protect beautifully in the elements.
