  • Camp Tolt 2016 : Banff Hat

My favorite season is Fall, with Winter being my second. Still I have to admit that when the days get longer, and the kids get out of school, I just want to spend my days outside.  Lately, the Summers here in the Pacific Northwest have been a little warm for my taste, but the evenings still get cool.   When we started to think about this year's Camp Tolt collection we thought of a hat for wearing around a campfire, or while sipping on coffee when camping up in the mountains.   We turned to our lovely friends up North, Tin Can Knits, to collaborate with and we are so glad we did!

We love Alexa and Emily's family-friendly designs and wonderful knitter-friendly tutorials. We feature many of their patterns as samples in our brick and mortar shop and frequently recommend items from their Simple Collection, a collection of free patterns geared towards skill building for the beginner. We also love all their great photos, often outdoors in beautiful British Columbia.

The Banff hat, named after the beautiful Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada, is designed with the whole family in mind and this quick knit is great one try out your color work.  With Peace Fleece's many color options everyone in the family could have their own color combo.

Peace Fleece is a rustic wool, mohair yarn with a wonderful story. The owners, husband and wife team Peter Hagerty and Marty Tracy, seek the promotion of peace through connecting with mutual understanding and wool commerce. Currently the wool is coming from the Navajo Nation and being milled and dyed in New England where Peace Fleece is based.
