We love Andrea Rangel and when we found out she was doing a book project (Rugged Knits) we were thrilled. Andrea's designs are beautiful and practical, her pockets are always real pockets! She makes beautiful garments out of workhorse yarns. She designed our first pattern ever (Tolt Hat and Mitts) and we included Andrea in our own book Farm to Needle: Stories of Wool, where she designed a beautiful sweater, the Valley Trail Pullover.
Something we admire about Andrea is that often she is garbed head to toe in woolens and self-made clothes. With Rugged Knits' 24 patterns, including sweaters, socks, hats, mitts and cowls, if you throw in one of Andrea's leggings patterns like Kalaloch you could be covered head to toe in woolens too! The book features a broad range of knitting techniques such as charted patterns, cables, lace and colorwork.
Here is a sampling of some of our favorites:
Cover Sweater - Hazy Cloud Pullover in Fibre Co.'s Road to China Light, available in our brick and mortar shop.
Boreal Toque in Brooklyn Tweed Loft
Woolen Explorer in Ístex Léttlopi
Surging River Wrap, in Imperial Yarn Native Twist (this color "Cobalt" is sadly discontinued, we have a few skeins left)
Braided Brook Pullover, the featured yarn is a 50/50 alpaca and wool blend, it can be done in Quince Owl, which we have in our brick and mortar shop.
We are so happy that Andrea will be here for a book signing and to teach a class on the Boreal Toque Saturday, July 30th. To sign up for the class please call the shop.
