Cedar Grove Shawl
Are you interested in learning to knit lace? This stunning Cedar Grove Shawl by the talented Judy Marples is the perfect lace project to get your feet wet. The shawl is knit out of Cascade’s Eco Wool, a bulky weight, and the pattern only requires one skein! During this class you will learn how to: use a garter tab cast-on (the most frequently used cast-on in shawl knitting), read lace charts, apply right and wrong side instructions to your chart symbols, use a cool increase stitch that is not a yarn over at the center spine of the shawl, and block your finished piece to take it from homemade to WOW! Join Veronika in knitting yourself a gorgeous lace shawl that you will be proud of!
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner/Intermediate: you know how to cast-on, bind-off, knit, purl, and have some experience with increases and decreases.
Materials Needed for Class:
Needles: US 10 circular needles, 32” or longer length
Yarn: approximately 450 – 478 yd bulky yarn. We suggest Cascade Ecological Wool
(sample was knit out of this yarn), Malabrigo Mecha, or Malabrigo Chunky.

The following items are optional, but I will talk in class about the benefit of these tools when
knitting lace: chart keeper/magnet board, highlighter tape/highlighters and blocking wires
