Introduction to Wheel Spinning
In this two-part class, students will learn the basic anatomy of modern spinning wheels, how to select the best fiber types for easy spinning, how to draft fiber, how to set up your bobbin tension and leader, how to spin singles, and the basics of standard plying.
Cost: $80 includes 2oz of wool needed for class, a set of spinning gauge cards, and instruction.
Skills: Novice to early beginner, no previous spinning experience required.
Equipment & Requirements:
- Students must supply their own wheel, which must be in good working order. Wheels must be evaluated by appointment with the instructor at least one week before class.
Don’t have a wheel yet?
The shop has a limited number of wheels available to reserve for class for an additional fee.
- Students must be physically able to carry and move their wheels about the shop; sit for the majority of the 2-hour sessions; and treadle and draft for the same period of time.
