Using both hands to knit stranded colorwork makes fair isle knitting fast and fun! In this class you will learn how to use two hands to knit two colors in the round. Tips will be included on how to avoid tight floats, how to catch the yarn the back of the work to avoid long floats, how color dominance works, and how to fix your colorwork mistakes.
Instructor: Dorie Lysaght
Skill Level:
Advanced Beginner/Intermediate - you can cast on, bind off, read a simple chart and comfortably knit in the round.
Materials: 16" circulars in US Size 6, 7 and 8 (or whatever size you normally use for heavy worsted weight yarn plus the size below and above), 2 contrasting colors of Heavy Worsted weight or Aran weight yarn (one light and one darker).
Homework: Cast on 56 stitches in either color on the smallest needle and work in the round 2x2 ribbing (k2, p2) for one inch. Switch to next larger needle and work stockinette (knit all stitches) for four rounds. Leave on needles.
Date: Sunday, March 1st, 1:00 pm- 3:30 pm
