Elemental Affects, is a fingering weight yarn in a myriad of beautiful colors. This fully American yarn is from North American Shetland sheep raised in Montana, and hand dyed by Jean deCoster in small batches. Jeane dyes over the natural colors of the Shetland sheep creating a palette that allows for both contrast and exquisite subtlety in color work. It is great choice for gloves, mittens, hats, and warm, lightweight sweaters.
Shetland wool yarn has been loved by knitters for generations. Shetland Sheep are a hardy, primitive breed of sheep originally developed over centuries on the Shetland Islands halfway between Scotland and Norway. Their wool has a loft to it that allows warmth while still being quite fine and strong.
Every year the wool has slight variations, of course, so although the same recipe is used every time, there will be batch to batch variations based on the natural wool color. Jeane describes it as each run of a color has the same “color intention.” So be certain to get as many as you will need for your project, because the next batch will nearly certainly be clearly different.
