Project: Traveling Cable Hat by Purl Soho
Cables look complicated, but they are actually quite easy. This class will teach you how to use a cable needle to create intricate designs. You will also learn to read a cable chart.
Supplies: 1 skein of worsted weight yarn, circular needles: size US 5 and US 6 16”, tapestry needle, hook style cable needle, 6 stitch markers, DPNs size US 6 short (4”-6”) Pattern supplied in class.
Homework: With US 5 16” needle, cast on 84 stitches. Place a marker and join to work in the round, being careful to not twist the stitches.
Round 1: *P1, [k2, p2] 4 times, k3, p1, repeat from * to end of round.
Repeat Round 1 until ribbing measures 4 inches from cast on edge, if you want to cuff your hat, or 2” if you don’t. Bring finished brim to the first class.
Experience: Confident Beginner. Skill requirements: CO, K, P, BO, in the round, dpn’s
