Outdoor Watercolor Journaling Workshop with Narangkar Glover
Saturday, August 19, 10am to 4pm
Meet at Tolt Yarn and Wool
The Pacific Northwest offers an abundance of natural beauty. Hitting the trail is always so inspiring and transformative. Sitting down with a sketchbook can be a great way to absorb and record our surroundings. It gives us a chance to check in with our current state of mind, and to offer up time to rest our feet for a little while. This immersive workshop is an introduction to the joys of working outdoors. It is open to anyone at any level - whether it is those looking to be introduced to the basics, or the avid sketcher who might want to pick up some new ideas, or just work with a group and get some feedback.
Starting in the classroom setting we will cover the fundamentals in working with wet drawing media (inks and watercolors), and the importance of using good materials. Following short instruction and demonstration, we will proceed on a short hike which will include time for field sketching. We will commence the workshop with showing our work to each other and discussing our results.
Drawing in the field doesn’t require a huge investment, even when using high quality products. I want to encourage participants to use the best quality materials you can afford. Just like in knitting and yarn, having good tools makes all the difference.
