Luxury fibers are often fine, short and slippery. These characteristics contribute to their beauty and softness, but they can also make these fibers a challenge to spin. In this class, you’ll work with a yak down/silk or camel down/silk blend, ultrafine merino, and 100% silk top, learning tips and tricks for making the yarn you want while keeping those airy fibers under your control!
Pre-Requisite / Supplies: Students must bring their own wheel, be able to spin a consistent single, and be confident with fine-tuning their tensions and ratios. Students should bring at least three bobbins and some type of Kate (or their own ball winder if they prefer to ply from a center-pull ball, but this technique will not be taught as part of Intermediate classes).
