We could not be more excited to welcome Alison Kaplan of Kata Golda Handmade, a craft studio in Port Townsend to Tolt Yarn and Wool to teach us the art of bookbinding!
Building on decades of bookbinding experience, Alison makes this craft feel approachable and adaptable. Participants will make a book covered in plant-dyed organic cotton/hemp fabric that is 3¼ inches wide, 4¾ inches tall, and about ½ inch thick. Each participant will receive a kit that includes a choice of 9 fabric colors, a detailed instruction booklet, and the tools to make more books at home.
Everyone will leave with one finished book, and Alison will have spare materials if participants have time to begin a second journal to finish at home.
